E-Safety Policy

At Pensilva Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that children use technology safely and responsibly. Our E-Safety Policy outlines how we protect pupils, staff, and the wider school community when using digital devices and the internet.

Our Aims

  • Promote safe and responsible use of technology.
  • Protect children from online risks including harmful content, contact, conduct, and commercial scams.
  • Educate pupils about online safety through the curriculum and regular awareness events like Safer Internet Day.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Online Safety Education: Pupils learn how to stay safe online, recognise risks, and report concerns.
  • Cyberbullying: We actively teach pupils about cyberbullying and how to respond. Staff are trained to support children and take action when needed.
  • Acceptable Use: All pupils, staff, and visitors must agree to our Acceptable Use Policy before accessing school ICT systems.
  • Monitoring & Filtering: We use secure systems to monitor internet use and block inappropriate content.
  • Social Media & School Website: Staff follow strict guidelines when using social media and publishing content online. Pupil images are only used with parental consent

Support for Parents

We encourage parents to:

  • Talk to their children about online safety.
  • Monitor their child’s internet use at home.
  • Use trusted resources such as:
    • UK Safer Internet Centre
    • Childnet International
    • Disrespect Nobody

Regular updates and tips are shared via our e-safety newsletter.
